Kosmos is a management tool for AI agents. You supervise a whole workforce from one place, with shared context, tools, memory, and rules, so they can coordinate, hand off tasks, and build on one another's progress.

Before you install it.

Isn't this just Perplexity or ChatGPT?

Those answer a question. Kosmos runs a workforce. Ask Perplexity something and an answer comes back to you; give a Kosmos agent a job and it goes and does it, then hands what it made to the next agent.

The bigger answer is that they are not competitors. Google, Claude and OpenAI are engines your agents run on, and Kosmos is the layer above them that runs the fleet. Every Kosmos agent runs on Claude today.

Isn't this just OpenClaw?

No. A harness is a tool that talks to the model itself, with its own loop and its own credentials. Kosmos does not do that. It runs the model provider's own tool and supervises it, so your agents run on the AI subscription you already pay for.

Your agents live on your Mac and so does everything they write. There is no Kosmos account.

If you are comfortable in a terminal, there are good tools for this already. Kosmos is for the person who is not.

Does my data leave my machine?

No. Kosmos runs on your own machine, under your own AI subscription. Your files, your agents, and whatever they are working on stay where they already are. None of it touches our infrastructure.

The one thing Kosmos will ever send us is a count that an agent was created. Not its name, not its role, not which model it runs on, and never that it did anything. That is the whole of it, and saying so in public is what keeps it that way.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Installing Kosmos is one line you copy and paste into Terminal once. From there the app takes over: it asks what you want help with, and sets your first agent up with you. Nothing after that first line is a command.

Do I need my own AI subscription?

Yes. Kosmos does not sell you AI and does not resell anybody else's. You bring your own subscription, your agents run on it, and Kosmos manages the system between them. Today that means a Claude subscription.

What is the difference between an agent and a chatbot?

A chatbot helps you do the thing you were already doing. An agent goes and does a piece of it without you. An assistant helps you do what you do; an agent does something on its own.

That difference is why a workforce is worth organizing at all. One assistant is a faster way to work. Five agents with roles, the information they need, and a clear handoff between them is work moving while you are somewhere else.

What can I actually use it for?

Meeting prep, keeping follow-ups moving, turning research into a brief you can act on, and staying ahead of work that comes back every week. Those are the four we would start from.

Pick the one thing you most want off your plate, give it to one agent, and add more as you find them. You do not have to design a workforce up front.
